Hotshoe 333 is an independent cafe, gallery and bookshop run by the photography magazine Hotshoe. The magazine has regularly featured photographers published by MACK. We are pleased to collaborate with Hotshoe on a pop-up, which comprises a large range of books – from our early to very latest titles – and special editions. In particular, a limited edition portfolio of collotype prints by 10 artists, made in collaboration with the Japanese atelier Benrido will be on display.

Galerie Kernweine (g–k) is a visual arts space in Stuttgart, dedicated to photography and the discourse surrounding the photographic medium. 

g–k invited MACK to co-curate a selection of books from our catalogue for the g–k store, and welcome two artists based in Germany to speak about their wdork at the gallery. Both Kristina Jurotschkin and Hayashisa Tomiyasu have been shortlisted for the MACK First Book Award in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

The Art of Publishing - An Exhibition of MACK books

This exhibition, presented by Perimeter Books, traces the publishing history of MACK, the London based art book publisher. Originally established in 2004 under the imprint steidlMACK, MACK was founded in 2010 as an independent publishing house and is considered to be one of the world’s leading producers of contemporary and historical photography books. Highlighting the areas of interest and long-term relationships with artists that have resulted in some of the defining artist books of the twenty-first century, the show brings together more than 200 books, editions and related objects – many of which are rare and previously unseen in Australia – alongside original prints, explorations into digital publishing and the complete backlist of MACK.

MACK at Arcana: Books on the Arts

Presenting some of the defining art and photography books of the 21st century, this exhibition traces the history of the publishing house, from its early days as the SteidlMACK imprint up until today. Work by artists such as Alec Soth, Broomberg & Chanarin, Collier Schorr, Paul Graham, Roe Ethridge, and Tacita Dean, as well as by emerging photographers, including recipients of the First Book Award, will chart the serpentine trajectory of the independent art publisher. All books on display, many of which are now out of print, will be available to purchase.

Originally founded in 1984, ARCANA is a specialist bookstore situated in a 4,500 square-foot historic industrial space in Culver City, Los Angeles. Stocked with over 100,000 publications, it is a haven for new, rare and out-of-print publications of 20th and 21st-century photography, art, design, architecture, fashion, cinema, and music.

We are excited to present an exhibition at wer-haus, the Barcelona gallery and concept store. MACK at wer-haus tells the story of the publishing house through an exhibition of books, editions and prints, many of which are now out of print. A broad range of the current MACK list will also be on display and available to purchase from the store.
