Dev Dhunsi: ‘Mixed’ [Book launch]

We are pleased to invite you to the launch of Mixed, the new photobook by Norwegian–Indian artist Dev Dhunsi and recipient of the Nordic Photobook Award 2024, presented by Fotogalleriet Oslo.

Mixed is a vivid and inquisitive exploration of identity, beginning from a linguistic absence: in Norway, there is no word that fully holds the meaning of “mixed.” From this gap, Dhunsi constructs a visual and textual language for experiences that remain unnamed — tracing how belonging, visibility, race, gender, and desire shape the conditions of being seen and loved.

The evening will include a conversation about the book, the Nordic Photobook Award, and the photobook as artistic form, followed by a performance by Adrian Lara.

Free to attend.

More about Mixed

Composed of photographs, archival fragments, and text, the book unfolds as a hybrid work where tenderness and defiance coexist. Through layering and juxtaposition, Dhunsi transforms hybridity from conflict into creation. Across its pages, Mixed builds an experimental, mythical world — a space where bodies, symbols, and language blur and reform. It sketches out the possibility of new kinds of humans: fluid, plural, and free.
