Upcoming Events

Wednesday 24 January – Friday 16 March

Justine Kurland’s This Train presents images from road trips taken with her young son across the United States between 2005 and 2011. Revisiting these images, Kurland upends the conventional family album to tell a story of queer motherhood and deconstructs the familiar mythology of the American railroad as a pioneering symbol of modernity. To coincide with the release of This Train in March, photographs from the book will be exhibited at Higher Pictures.

Wednesday 28 February

Art Applied is a vast and comprehensive survey of the work of Dutch designer and architect Petra Blaisse and her studio Inside Outside, presenting a kaleidoscopic overview of their work across landscape, interior and exhibition design. Join us for an intimate celebration to mark the launch of the book, where Petra Blaisse will be discussing her new retrospective in the company of collaborators and friends.

Thursday 7 March

Join Emin Özmen for a celebration of his first book Olay, a retrospective of his work to date and a nuanced and necessary comment on the Turkish state and the sentiments of its people. The event will include a book signing.

Sunday 17 March

Amber Husain will be discussing Meat Love: An Ideology of the Flesh with Professor Gary Francione as part of Oxford Literary Festival. Meat Love probes the nature of of ‘love’ in contemporary human-animal relations and casts a materialist’s critical eye on the visual culture of meat as it gentrifies and mutates, informing, for better or for worse, our political imaginations.
