About Look at me like you love me
In this highly personal collection of work, Jess T. Dugan brings together self-portraits with portraits of individuals and couples and still lifes to reflect on relationships, solitude, family, loss, desire, healing, and the transformations that define a life. Employing traditional photographic practices to depict their contemporary subjects, Dugan creates images that both evoke and reimagine the conventional dynamics of portraiture. Dugan’s own diaristic writings meditate obliquely on the images and the circumstances and impulses which gave rise to them. Through a transfixing sequence of image and text, Look at me like you love me brings our attention to one of the most potent and complex forms of intimacy: that of seeing and being seen.
