Join Janet Delaney and Mother Jones photo editor Mark Murrmann as they discuss Delaney's new book Red Eye to New York, bringing together images made on spontaneous trips to New York which explore the intimacy and isolation of big-city life in the 1980s. Their conversation will focus on the pleasures and terrors of working as a photographer in the public arena. Delaney will also be sharing street photography work from around the world, including many never before seen images. This talk is presented by the San Francisco City Photography Club and hosted by Peak Design.

About Red Eye to New York
Throughout the 1980s, Janet Delaney made last-minute trips to New York on overnight courier plans from San Francisco. The luminous colour photographs she made on these fleeting visits capture the syncopated rhythms of public and private worlds in the theater of the modern city. A landmark collection of street photography, Red Eye to New York brims with the instinctive joy of being out in the world with a day to spend and camera around your neck.
